Essential Plumbing Materials Every Building Project Needs
29 May 2026 · 6 min read · Justice Global Team

Running out of a fitting halfway through first fix costs a day of labour. This is the checklist we work through with contractors and developers before a project supply order.
Supply pipework
The pressurised lines that carry water to every outlet.
- PPR pipes in the required diameters for hot and cold supply
- PVC pressure pipes where used for cold lines
- Elbows, tees, sockets and reducers
- Gate and check valves for isolation
- Threaded brass-insert adapters for tap and heater connections
Waste and drainage
Sized generously — undersized waste lines are a recurring complaint on finished buildings.
- Soil pipes and waste pipes
- Bends, junctions and inspection access
- P-traps and bottle traps
- Floor drains and gratings
Fixtures and finishing
Ordered early so finishes stay consistent across every unit in the project.
- Water closets and cisterns
- Wash-hand basins and pedestals
- Kitchen sinks and faucets
- Shower systems and bath fittings
- Water heaters
Consumables and spares
Solvent cement, thread tape, clamps, washers and a margin of spare fittings. Ordering roughly a five to ten percent overage on small fittings avoids repeated trips to the market.
